What does S.W.A.T. stand for?
It’s an acronym for Special Weapons and Tactics. Although, the athletes have so much fun coming up with their own versions such as “Special Women Attack Team” and many others.

The true meaning behind the S.W.A.T. name symbolizes the intense training each athlete undergoes as they learn how to use their collective strengths to build a team that is competitive during the tournaments.

About the Club:
S.W.A.T. Team Volleyball Club (“SWAT Team”) started with two club teams during the 2006-2007 season and has since grown ever since. For the club’s 4th season, returning coaches Jeff Weihert, Gloria Cruz, Marcelo Guanes, and Gigi Tisdom welcome new players trying out for the first time as well as all of our returning players. We’ve truly enjoyed working with all the young ladies and parents who have made this club memorable.

About the coaching staff:
The SWAT Team coaching staff is experienced in Division I college athletics and other college level teams. They are all currently active in coaching high school volleyball girls’ and boys’ teams and have coached on other club teams in the past. In their spare time, our coaches play competitively in adult leagues and recreationally. The coaches spend many hours training, meeting and researching within various aspects of the sport to continuously fine tune their skills. They are truly dedicated to the sport and wish to share their experiences and training with players who also love volleyball.

About the training:
SWAT Team offers a wide range of training on and off the court. This year we will be implementing strength conditioning exercises that will help the players grow stronger and reduce the amount of injuries. We will teach team and court discipline and strategy to prepare for tournaments. In addition, each player will have the opportunity to attend extra training sessions that are specialized to their respective position. For those athletes who are eager to learn more, we also offer outside training by appointment only and for additional fee.

We look forward to starting the new season and meeting our new players and parents.
